What about frontground check where the guy says “Yeah I did that stuff that people said” and what if the comedians made even some tiny attempt to sanitize themselves instead of pretending nothing happenedhttps://twitter.com/vulture/status/1047573970537594884 …

“If we get into the business of sanitizing every comedian and doing a thorough background check before they walk through the door, it’s going to be a very empty stage” https://vult.re/2O12Mqw

If we shouldn't (and we shouldn't) vet material performed onstage, why do we make club owners responsible for who can perform? People vote with their feet and wallets, and if you're mad that a comic you despise gets time, Hate the crowd. We're all complicit until we're not.

Drop-in sets don’t make everyone “complicit” and it unfair to put the burden on audiences to walk out if someone they don’t like shows up unannounced.

At The Cellar, everybody's effectively unannounced. Should they do an informal poll of the audience for drop ins? What if it's not Louie, but someone who offends you for a different reason? Only 2 refund requests last time. Don't hate the booker, hate the shitty audience.

That’s removing all expectation of decency from the booker. There’s no one else that’s going to offend someone ON SIGHT that drops in unannounced.

If a third of that crowd had asked for their money back, I feel pretty confident C.K. would be working out a new hour somewhere else.

He already could be doing that and that doesn’t address my point.
