I’m reference to how this compares, I can think of a few U.S. military demonstration teams whose skills have less to do with modern military tactics and more a demonstration of discipline and resolve. This is still highly insane, though.

Well, all special forces in the world are trained to eat snakes and more. But to show it to foreign dignitaries in a demo, that's something.

Everything can b demonstrated by commandos except one - killing your beloved one - because they are a threat to national security and it's your order from your command. I'm sorry to sound callous, but they do emotionally train for this. They use pet animals.

As an example, rabbits. They're each given a rabbit to care for, to feed, be the closest companion, to take anywhere during training. Emotional bond made. Daily inspection of rabbit's welfare. If rabbit found slightest uncared for, punishment.
