We've made being a teacher into the worst career imaginable.
Not only do you get paid poverty wages & are expected to spend your own money to do your job, at any moment, you can be filmed in your classroom & have millions of people online cancel you for the most innocuous things

Is this appropriate for a teacher to announce to her class? (poll below)

heres the secret (?) the internet gets wrong. there are a ton of people doing hardcore, classical, realistic oil paintings. all over the world. they make great paintings that look right out of the 15, 16, 17, 1800s. rooms full of them. the reality is just that no one cares.
Quote Tweet
“Why aren’t people making the kind of old-world classical sculptures and oil painting I like anymore?” I dunno dude why aren’t you providing an artist with a full time salary and residence on your property so they can focus on nothing but making one painting for three years.

I'd like to deeply congratulate the Anti-AI-Art crowd for re-deriving from first principles, with no awareness of discourse history, every single argument that's been used for roughly 20+ years by the Art Academy to argue that interactive and generative digital art isn't "Art."

People need to stop learning how trials work from watching Law & Order reruns.
The January 6 cases taking two years is completely normal for a criminal case of this magnitude. Nobody is slow-walking anything.

1.) The funding has already been provided. It cannot be “repealed” nor rescinded
2.) The IRS did not “hire 87,000 new agents.” The funding enables them to hire that many agents over the course of TEN YEARS; including agents who retire or leave in that time

I think Elon Musk is a loser and his Hyperloop concept is braindead, but the California HSR project is still in-development. This tweet is complete misinformation, his attempt to undermine California's HSR project failed.
Quote Tweet
Elon Musk, out of personal hatred for public transit, destroyed the California high speed rail project (the thing that would fix traffic) for a failed hyperloop that he bulldozed into a parking lot. He is the reason you’re sitting in traffic. twitter.com/teslaownersSV/…

Dude, voting to adjourn literally drags this out longer. This ensures that both the night news cycle AND morning news cycle are forced to cover that Republicans are in disarray.
Quote Tweet
the democrats couldn't even vote nay to adjourn and keep running the clock, these people are so useless and lazy

The GOP murdered this man tonight on primetime television. This wasn't Tulsi going rogue. Everything at this level is planned.
They want him to disappear. And I think it has everything to do with that $600k he lent his campaign after years of financial problems. Just watch 👀

The people who took the COVID vaccine are also remarkably unconcerned about sudden onset myocarditis, considering the rate was like 1/50,000-200,000 and the vast majority of them resolve quickly. Most people have a higher chance of developing myocarditis post infection, anyway.

Hey , hire me as a consultant and with bare-minimum effort, I can ensure that a simple rollout doesn't completely break Twitter's AI.
Genuinely baffling that they didn't position viewcounts into the empty spaces, my five minute copy-pasted example above is less noisy.

The view number contributes to WAY too much screenclutter. Personally, I think it shouldn't appear until you click on a tweet, but here are two areas where the view count could be placed that don't completely nuke the prior layout.
(Top is good, bottom still bad but better).

This is not how Bernie runs in Vermont he competes in the Democratic primary and then declines the nomination. Could not be more different.
Quote Tweet
What Kyrsten Sinema is doing is a cynical play for 2024. She avoids a primary challenge by going independent. And if Dems put up a candidate they will split the vote with her and a Republican will win the seat.
By the way this is similar to how Bernie wins in Vermont

Really unfortunate that the United States was unable to find a way to integrate Paul Whelan into the prisoner swap. Feels like there likely will not be another major opportunity like this to bring him home.
Regardless, freeing Brittney Griner is positive news.
Jesus Christ. No, refusing to host what amounts to revenge porn taken from a stolen laptop with a broken custody chain is not "genuinely disturbing corporate censorship." It's actually a rare instance of a corporation respecting individual privacy.
Quit bothsidesing everything.

Two things that can be true at once:
1) Twitter's handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story was genuinely disturbing corporate censorship.
2) There are far bigger threats to free speech and democracy coming out of the GOP/MAGA world every day. thedailybeast.com/heres-what-out
