I think it would but they're always late to the party and still winning.
It's much different from something like capcom because unlike capcom Nintendo puts out way more games is a much bigger company and creates their own platform. If you have your own platform you wouldnt need something like a big tournament series to stand on, like capcom cup.
The problem is Nintendo at it's core wants to promote itself as a family brand, not competitive tournament brand.
Bingo we got a winner. It's why you never see them in the console war talk. They got their niche and stick to it. You never see their games really go on great sales. If they did host they'd either give a trophy/controller or such small $$ ppl would say they aren't giving enough
