Thank you @LiquidHbox for saying what we're all thinking.
"Nintendo, I need to say, I love you guys but you are the only one not putting resources into the scene"
It is long past time that Nintendo supports Smash esports.pic.twitter.com/5jhe1oYJUK

I think it would but they're always late to the party and still winning.

Yes but even the "best" can improve

Pretty sure LCS was operating at a loss for awhile.

esports is not typically a profitable industry by itself, but serves as engagement and advertisement for the game as a whole

no it won't. smash is already the top selling FG game. they don't need the advertising that esports would net. it would be a complete waste of money. other companies need it. nintendo doesn't.

It only supports the company for the game they are currently pushing. Since Melee is no longer purchasable by Nintendo themselves and they no longer push it, they don't have any REAL incentive to put any resources to it besides clout which they don't need.
-
Not to say it wouldn't be cool as hell of them. But they don't have any REAL reason to support it. Maybe Ultimate to push more sales and seem like they're being more involving will encourage more people to do things eSports related, but add money into the mix and its a new game

Exactly, even if they don't get money from players, by supporting the scene, they could get money from advertisers.

Didn't benefit Heroes of the Storm and Blizzard pumped a lot of money into it. Just because it works for some games doesn't mean it benefits every game.
