I'm looking into upgrading my mic in the near future which on should I get? Should I stay with a usb mic or switch to an xlr mic? 
Xlr mic will always be the better option. Just make sure you buy a focus rite with it also(interface). Unless you have a mixer that takes Xlr input already.

That’s what I was thinking as well
. I’m just in a slight budget at the moment plus since the seasons are changing I’m not gonna get paid as much at my job

They have some Xlr + interface combos for 200nor less. Just save up and dont rush.
