nothing until EVERYONE started using it, and way too often it's one of those phrases that's so general that you can use it as a catch-all for most interactions, which makes it an easy crutch rather than explaining stuff

It's lazy, doesn't exactly state what they're trying to call out and there are other ways to get your point across than saying callout.
