Yea it's basically a license key that you input into the cam that allows 4k rec. You can buy it pre bundled from b&h and save dam near 400 bucks vs buying it separate at full price. With that being said you might not need it if 4k aint in your production workflow !

I think mine came with the 4K but that's good to know for the next 2 I'm getting.
