Pro-Bolsonaro riots laid bare threat to Brazilian democracy: Unlike past violence, these riots not ordered by a single strongman ruler or a military bent on seizing power, but fueled by a more insidious, deeply rooted threat: mass delusion.

Falsehoods about the result of a presidential election spurred an assault on democracy. Sound familiar? People storming government buildings in Brasília, the capital of #Brazil, is another prominent example of the offline harms caused by #misinformation.

The Post's praised the newspaper's weekly standalone magazine, soon to be defunct, "in particular a special issue dedicated to the decline of local news". We note that the decline of local news is an urgent matter for Americans.

We called out the gaps in polling. As my 24-year-old daughter said: "Pollsters are missing us. I can assure you that most 24-year-olds are loathed to answer a phone call from anyone they don't know."

I pushed hard to bring NEWSROOM CONFIDENTIAL out before the midterms. It meant writing 1,000 words a day seven days a week, which was grueling. wrote that it may be “this fall’s most timely book.” That, and this praise below, is gratifying 🙏
