An American Tail: Fievel Goes Home! (In this version, the cat is a good guy 😉) Fievel had been spotted several times near CACC, eating from the dumpster and evading attempts to rescue him from the cold. While our intake staff was there, we heard about sweet Fievel (1/2)

(2/2) She had dermoids (essentially moles) growing on her eye. Ouch! Our surgeons carefully removed those dermoids, and Gita got LOTS of cuddles for being so brave post-op. She’s now finishing recovery in foster care and we’ll keep you updated when Gita is ready for adoption!

If Gita is this sweet when she’s not feeling her best, we’re not sure the world is ready for how much she can love she can spread at 100%! But that’s a risk we’ll have to take. Gita was at local animal control with an unusual problem. (1/2)

2/3 So we scooped her up and promised her amazing things were still to come. Sure enough, a very exciting opportunity presented itself right when she finished recovery: a modeling career. We asked Ethel if she was ready for fame and glory and all she said was “it’s about time!”

9 year old Ethel is proof it’s never too late to follow your dreams! Ethel was a senior stray on the euthanasia list at an animal control facility because she needed dental care and some mass removals. At our Medical Center, that’s no problem! 1/3

It has quite literally changed the landscape of animal welfare, and that’s an incredible thing! Here’s how we’ve implemented spay/neuter to make such a massive impact: 🐾 Including spay/neuter in the basic care for all pets who enter our system before clearing for adoption

PAWS Chicago was born as a No Kill organization to end that cycle, through affordable, accessible spay and neuter surgeries. And you know what? It’s working. The euthanasia rate has decreased in Chicago by a staggering 92.5%, and that’s why s/n stays at the core of our mission.

They were healthy pets that were victims of overpopulation. 42,561. Imagine the emotional and physical toll of that number. We just pulled Krill from local animal control. A happy, healthy boy who’s now ready for a family. 25 years ago, a dog like him didn’t have that chance.

Krill is helping us celebrate a massive milestone as our 300,000th spay/neuter surgery since our founding 25 years ago!!   Back in 1997, PAWS founder Paula Fasseas and her daughter Alexis discovered that 42,561 homeless pets were euthanized in Chicago that year alone.

(3/3) We think the chance to relax in foster care would help him tons and get him back on a regular, healthy eating schedule. Can you help? Interested fosters can apply to foster on our website, and current fosters can reach out to our team directly!

(2/3) Just one problem. In between being surrendered to a local shelter and then coming to PAWS, Oleo has been stressed out and struggling to eat. And for a cat of his stature, that can be dangerous, putting him at risk for serious health problems.
