The news on C4 and Sky News have both been better quality over the last 3 years. As long as impartiality laws are kept to prevent that foxification then I'd be happy for news to be spun off as a private organisation and keep the rest of the BBC public.

Channel 4 is publicly owned albeit commercially funded (and the coming assault will be accompanied by scrapping impartiality laws, which they're making very clear)

It can be publicly funded and also the licence laws need to change. The licence just isn't fit for purpose in this day an age. If I pay a sub to watch sport online why should it be illegal for me to watch that sport live if I don't also pay the BBC?
