  2. If Corbyn was a dangerous monster, then everybody who campaigned to make him leader - including Keir Starmer - must be driven from public life. If he wasn’t, stop treating the left as a moral disgrace. You can only choose one! Take your opinion to its logical conclusion!

  3. This is absolutely true. If it’s true that Jeremy Corbyn was the disgusting and dangerous monster he’s been portrayed as, then everybody who ever went along with his leadership, or ostensibly tried to make him Prime Minister, should be driven from public life forever.

  4. It's hard to avoid the conclusion that the largely bad reviews for Don't Look Up have a lot more to do with journalists not liking being the butt of the joke, than the actual quality of the film.

  5. Hearing that April Ashley has passed away. I met her just once, and honestly, it was like meeting the queen. The poise, the grace. An icon. Rest in power.

New: The pandemic killed so many dialysis patients that their total number shrunk for the first time in nearly half a century. Few people took notice.

  9. Sad to hear April Ashley passed away yesterday 😢💔 She was an absolute pioneer for trans people in the UK. Imagine coming out in the 50s! I'm glad people stronger than me, like her, paved the way so I could be where I am today ❤️

Remove Clause 9 from the Nationality and Borders Bill
Under provisions in Clause 9 of this Bill, individuals could be stripped of their British citizenship without warning. We believe this is unacceptable, and inconsistent with international human rights obligations.

  14. Such an important point, and clearly echoes what we heard from Gauteng. My request to : please can we have the "being treated for Covid" vs other primary diagnosis data daily, rather than weekly, for the next couple of weeks at least? Critical distinction.

Unfortunately not surprising that political and media elite are erasing Tutu's Palestinian rights activism. Acknowledging it would require acknowledging their own cowardice and double standards.

Not many, if any, have done more for gambling reform than Matt - who was (and is) a genuine inspiration to me when I needed an example of life after addiction. Anything positive from the review will be a testament to his relentless efforts to make gambling fairer and safer 👊

One thing important to grasp about Tutu's political judgements is that they were not discrete from his faith, but an extension of his understanding of Christianity. To imagine you can sunder one from the other & discard the inconvenient bit is to miss the point entirely.

  20. Tutu held opinions - like wanting to try Tony Blair for war crimes, or supporting Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel - that many self-described liberals hate. But those same liberals wanted to appropriate the legacy of a near-saint, so they just erased his opinions

  21. The erasure of Desmond Tutu's passionate support for the liberation of Palestine from his obituaries is an act of censorship against the dead.
