people who are just grifting off the issue and don't really want to solve it are threatened. Thus, even the notionally environmentalist left will make up some reason to oppose Musk in this case, trying to keep the problem from being solved and taking their jobs away.

For all some of them use the "but subsidies!" issue as a stick to beat Musk/Tesla with, something like Solyndra is much better for them; it's a means of taking resources, whereas Tesla is actually efficient, thus not.
