Regardless, no, I would prefer if no particular group were generally disparaged in the mass media for the actions of some of its members, or in service to some broader narrative.

I am often critical of various media institutions. As are many of my friends and colleagues, and many of us are from such overrepresented backgrounds. There is no need to conflate the two. It merely casts your own side in a negative light and conjures historical associations.

Where there are critics, there will be platforms, so to claim that it isn't about behavior by media is a bit of a canard. Personally, I would not mind outright banning mass media from making explicit negative claims about substantially all members of a given ancestry group.

I'd rather have the (classical) liberal version, with all its problems. When people could laugh at ethnic jokes, things were better.
