Most of them are shockingly ignorant about politics. Even if (or maybe especially if) they are smart in a STEM sense, they won't be able to explain a basic concept like 'democracy'. Advancing their career is all they are interested in.

They will take over the world though, so we have that to look forward to.

They’re nationalists and ‘they will take over the world’. Is that a coincidence in your mind? Maybe their anti democracy stance has more to do with their desire for power than a naive worldview.

I'm against democracy myself, at least in this form, so I don't have a problem with that. I do have a problem with the lack of intellectual depth of their views. Take this video. You can see they are just dumb consumerist youngsters.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SsWa9fieWSU …

Hi-tech consumerism + unculturedness + authoritarianism is worse than what we have in the west, where there is still a little room for authenticity.

The West has fathomed the most despicable abyss of slave morality ever known upon earth.

We live in hell, no doubt about that, but I don't see much reason to be optimistic about China.

I actually think there may be plenty of reason, if you’re Chinese. The past 15 years has seen massive, massive economic + quality of life growth for a lot of them. They can execute on infrastructure change at a speed US hasn’t seen in a long time.

Of course we see the collapsing buildings and social credit system and think it’s shit. But mistakes are a part of the game at the speed they’re moving. They may have some very bright days ahead. As a person that isn’t Chinese though, fuck China.

Right. Having lived there for a few years, I know China is the future. It's just not something I want to be a part of.

Even if you don't, you should appreciate it for stressing the West in a way that is making hyper-indulged decadence geopolitically unaffordable.

Yeah, but I'm afraid we have to go through our own century of humiliation first before there can be something like a European renaissance. Most people and politicians are still apathetic.
