You'd have to ask them. But given it took place in English -- my Czech being a little "rusty" -- it would be odd if there wasn't.

I'd hardly call discovering a new friend a thrashing, they were extremely collegial by the end.

JBP lost the debate when Ziz asked him to make a joke and JBP couldn't.

Sure. You ever see _Zizek’s_ Cathy Newman interview? She was so out of her depth in the face of his style she couldn’t get a handle on him the whole interview.

The internet is lying. They didn't actually debate. JBP trashed classical Marxism, Zizek largely agreed. Zizek trashed capitalism re: happiness, sustainability and JBP largely agreed. Jointly thrashed happiness as a primary pursuit. Each made some disparate points in the midst.

JBP was his normal self, whatever you think of that. My fist time seeing Zizek in action, and typical lefty disjointed and unexamined linking of ideas in such a rapid, convoluted mess that it leaves the impression of a point without ever making one. Spiced with commie sophistry.

the thrashing was mostly rhetorical, which matters most in public

JBP was out of his depth - he came prepped w/capitalism is superior economic engine argument alone. Zizek reframed the argument while exposing JBP's 'neo-marxist' strawman and illuminating inherent, but ignored, flaws of capitalism.
