Do you mean eugenics? Strong “top down” models that produces unintended disastrous consequences — look at bad hips with German Shepard’s, the 1/4 chance that a hairless dog will die in the womb, etc

Less eugenics (which is of course by definition good) than strategic speciation, so "man" can go its different ways.
