The Aristotelian points (see article), I produced a few years ago, with the observation that a corrupt electorate and nation might not be best served by a leader of good character. It's fairly obvious, really, is a saint the best candidate to lead a criminal gang, as it were?

When moral and ethical standards are not maintained, at the very least by general, social expectation of them, if not their fulfilment, then it's obvious that the social fabric is going to unravel along the sutured lines of moral collapse.

It isn't to say anything at all, if you don't set moral criteria. You can't really assume a simplistic, base morality, given your own visceral attacks on public conventions of goodness.

The main thrust of the moral argument against Trump is contingent on his blatant racism, hypocrisy, and dubious, private financial dealings. None of these disqualify him from a supporter base, either exemplifying, or happy to exemplify given the opportunity, those same qualities.
