isn't demonstrability the criterion of science? if it is, nothing could ever be "pseudo" scientific. it's either demonstrable or not.

If you're using any notion more concrete than pure metaphor it's wildly inaccurate. From the very start, evolution by natural selection was governed by rules like e.g. horizontal inter-generational transmission of traits, that do not exist in science.

You could use evolution by natural selection, ("Darwinism"), as a metaphor for the practice of science, but you could just as easily use some pseudo-scientific evolutionary theory like Lamarckianism or blending.
