Chuck a few commies out of a helicopter, and suddenly you're a "fascist".

Please, enlighten me on the difference between fascist and non-fascist death squads. How exactly does one justify death squads without also justifying social engineering of the fascist sort?

How are death squads "social engineering" anymore than a regular police force is?

Really? You're really gonna claim that death squads and police serve the same function? Death squads are outside of any judicial process, and are utilized to enact political, class, and racial repression. That's the fucking definition of social engineering.

It's not even close to my definition of social engineering.

What's your definition of social engineering then?

Employing state coercion to direct the development of society. (Not necessarily an insult word, but the process is generally sub-optimal.)

Violent repression by paramilitary organizations is a form of state coercion.

What if the death-squads are freelance and entrepreneurial?

Is Bolsonaro is advocating for freelance death squads which operate without any sanction from the state?

He's not advocating death squads at all. As far as I can tell, he's just promising not to weep in public if the cops cut up a bit rough.

He said that they should let police kill criminals. Seems like he's saying something a bit stronger than "I won't cry in public" tbqh.

it's unlikely he will get to do anything. cops already cut up pretty roughly, and it has only worsened the whole violence problem, because - as I said elsewhere - police already act as parts of criminal gangs.
