Stereotyping in the pejorative sense isn't just generalization. It's a runaway feedback loop between generalization & fictional representation, with empirical observation left behind.

E.g. a foreigner comes through the village, gets a reputation for being dishonest, maybe on average foreigners can't be trusted. 100 tellings of the story later, foreigners are hyper-untrustworthy trickster gods, bc each telling feels like a new datum even though it's not.
