LNP MPs equating abortion clinic protestors with union protests is just plain wrong. Abortion clinic protestors are there to harass client and staff, to intimidate them, to scare them out of accessing/providing health care.

Shane Knuth (KAP) is equating abortion to a woman murdering her two year old child. I mean, I just can't with this one.

The idea of a 'deterrent to abortion' keeps coming up. Let's get something clear, you can't deter women from getting an abortion, but you can lower the abortion rate through comprehensive sex ed, access to cheap and cost-effective contraception, and publicly funded health care.

Anything other than this is not an attempt to lower the abortion rate, but an attempt to criminalise and punish women.

Leanne Linard (ALP) says that abortion needs to be treated as a public health issue. Notes that countries where abortion is legalised have lower abortion rates.

Sam O'Conner (LNP) acknowledges that he will never have to decide whether to have an abortion, but that he is in the position of having to decide what's right for women. Let me fix this for you: vote for the proposed legislation then you won't actually have to decide, she will.

Jennifer Howard (ALP) talking about women who have been told by their doctors that abortion is illegal and that they cannot access it, had their access to health care hindered, or been pressured into carrying a pregnancy to term by an anti-choice doctor who won't refer on.

Here's a question to all the LNP MPs (wrongly) claiming no one has been charged with illegally procuring an abortion... if no one is being charged (they have been), why are they voting to keep it in the criminal code?

Women in Tasmania are currently having to fly interstate to access surgical abortion, and women in QLD either travel to Brisbane or Sydney, so the idea that abortion is always easy to access is deliberate ignorance.

So far the vote is going down party lines with all ALP MPs who have so far spoken, speaking in support, GRN MPs have also spoken in support. LNP and KAT MPs have all spoken in opposition.

That should be normal. Any doctor have to comply with the Hippocratic Oath: "First, do no harm" So no circumcision for healthy boys. Children should be protected from medical malpractice.
