My mother died 12 years ago of Alzheimer's. This story breaks my heart. @JimWatsonOttawa please reverse this decision. There has to be some middle ground.

I agree. The emotional scars will be devastating and long term.

For Pete’s sake let people have as much joy and love as they can in this time. Don’t be pandemic police stealing everyone’s joy. Only NECESSARY limitations please!!!

This is simply an overstep of authority without any basis of reason. The city should be finding a way to make this work so that residents have some connection with their families, especially because this could last much longer for them. Loneliness is also dangerous for seniors.

I don’t buy the reason that families aren’t social distancing. My dad is in a city LTC home but his dementia is advanced so going to his window would only confuse him. If this is b/c it is causing stress to the residents and staff I might understand.

My wife works in LTC and they had to stop allowing it because their building had windows that can be opened and people where passing things through.

I don’t get it. Why the hell not????

People have been opening windows, touching their loved ones and passing things through. We need to protect the people working As Well as the residents.
