Wow. 'Intersectional Feminist' isnt even a thing? Someone else tweeted the other day that intersectionality is a tool for analysis NOT an identity.

Yes. It's about compounding effects of structural inequalities, not identity. Eg.What happens to a Black woman experiencing sexism & racism at work. She'd be forced to choose one or the other issue to bring forward in an industrial dispute, but she experiences both simultaneously

honestly happens all. the. time. UGH.

The worst. I had another one this week. Instead of answering my questions about what concrete steps were being taken to address hiring, promotion and retention of minorities. WW: "everyone needs inclusion, not just minorities... we are all at intersections."

I've looked back through your feed & was very interested in your tweets about Jane Caro. I never watch her on
#thedrum due to my reservations about her as a commentator. Too entitled, not nuanced enough, Sydney based. & yes, white and middle class@Asher_Wolf -
Is that who is being referred to? Because I’ve been trying to get people to understand about her for years - she is NOT an ally. She is as entitled and arrogant as I’ve come across (with no receipts).
-
If you look back through her feed you will see she calls Caro out on stuff she says on The Drum. I was just glad to see someone critique Caro because like you I have had reservations about her for years.
-
Have done so. Am so glad someone is finally saying it. I have had more than one person have a go at me about Caro being an "Ally". If she's an ally, I'll fight solo, thanks!!
-
Ditto, i was really glad to see someone say it too. I have a relatively small reach on twitter and comnentators like Caro are well nigh impossible to challenge- they've got all that media training and lots of influence.
-
She's also got an ego that is iron clad.
-
Grrrr. Don't get me started. Commentators like her are having a detrimental effect on the capacity of Australians to hold productive nuanced conversations. What gets me is how she has positioned herself as an Equity expert despite the fact that her background is the opposite.
-
She has NO understanding of equity at all. Mine is limited to my law studies and I am stratospheres away from expertise, but I am damned sure I have her covered on issues of equity.
