I love that they ache for Ancestry dot com to give them licence to claim such ancestry (plus 1.3% "African" or "Middle Eastern" ancestry
), but their ancestry, real or imagined, is never used to invalidate their place in Australia.

I love how these percentages are used in the belief that they confound debates about identity as if we aren’t absolutely certain of or constantly reminded of ours.

And as if "percentages" of ethnicity and race haven't ALWAYS been a tool of colonialism meant to withhold citizenship rights and protection to Indigenous people and to exclude migrants.
