Having a lawyer cry "due process" for a man arrested & charged for five crimes, including rape & drugging a 13 year old, is the epitome of rape culture. Agreed. Also scary is for a professional society not to acknowledge the functions and decisions of the legal system.
They gave him an Oscar in 2003. Over 100 of the Academy's most famous members signed a letter in support of him in 2013. He committed his crimes in 1977. Members knew & defended what he did because his art and his evasion of the law are seen as more unjust than rape. Disgusting.
