Jenny Zhang also discussed #intersectionality is about labour. Asian women, and other Brown & Black women, are employed in exploitative conditions so White women "can have it all." They do all emotional labour & childcare yet seldom get to see their own children.
Panellists were asked about practical steps White women can take to action #intersectionality. Ask yourself these questions & more:
-Who do you pay for their expertise?
-Who do you listen to?
-Who do you have lunch with daily?
-Who don't you notice?
Hire Black women.
Pay #WOC.
No, it's not. It's like saying black lives matter. It needs to be said. I get that there is resentment towards white women, but this is ridiculous.
Thanks for such in-depth tweeting of the session Zuleyka, much appreciated! Some interesting points. In its current iteration, I think the term is a good starting place for those needing a reminder of the broader fights for equality that exist. The title of the panel says it all!
