Deleting my kindness anecdote due to it being judged inappropriate cookie begging by some. #spanked #naughtymel

Deleting your tweet suggests that you're not willing to be held accountable for your actions and and you're still only looking for cookies rather than taking this as an opportunity to listen and learn from marginalised voices who have taken the time to call you out

Why? So you don't have to feel bad about saying the wrong thing? So that nobody can see the reason why you've been called out, so it just looks like women of colour are having an unfounded go at you on twitter? You should leave them up for yourself and others to learn from

And you haven't just deleted a tweet found offensive, Mel. You're gaslighting - evoking "tone policing" which turns me into the angry WOC, & you, the White woman as victim. You're subtweeting. Haven't apologised. So much about your behaviour that illustrates my original point

Everyone has been criticised for tweeting something they mightn’t realised was hurtful/ offensive. Hopefully they reflect and realise the tweet is not actually compatible with their values. Why leave it up now that it is no longer true to the author?

Because you can apologise and acknowledge that you made a mistake on the tweet thread and leave it up for yourself and others to learn from. Deleting it shows you're trying to hide the fact that you were called out for something.

And as I explained in the tweet you're responding to @KArandjelovic Mel did not pause to reflect on the hurt/ offence caused. Instead accused me of tone policing her in the original thread and then subtweeted about me twice, instead of simply listening and learning. Not allyship.

Surely leaving an offensive tweet up would only serve to continue offending / hurting / triggering people? Would the most appropriate thing to do not be to remove the offending post and reach out to the people hurt by it? (Not meaning to get involved, just for my own learning)
