Here's a White male "writer" who harassed me on-and-off last year due to Science March. I publicly called him out on stealing my work & he came to my blog on various pages for months to write silly things like this, responding to his own comments with pseudonyms. #socmoderationpic.twitter.com/eLtTCMM3T3

White male troll calling himself "youareanidiot" responds to a thread on my blog about sociology of gender. He says I am a "bully" for erroneously claiming "only women can breastfeed." He is defending his own comments, which I'd already responded to.

I’ve noticed the Melb Science March is entire run by white male futurists this year....

I've been seeing nothing good coming out of the latest round of proposed science marches. They haven't really listened or learned a thing in one year. A shame.

I harangued @SeanGeoghegan at 4am on the disability access plan for Canberra. He had some answers....which was more than Melb last year....who I was also haranguing

That wasn't a haranguing! I've has worse with four brothers and four sisters. 😀 I think we've taken on board a good bit of fair criticism. We'll learn, each time hopefully with lessons learnt for the new set of volunteer organisers. Here is part of the @ScienceMarchCBR group.pic.twitter.com/yp4UDoW0Oo

Your March does seem diverse in the listed organisers. Sadly, Melb doesn’t seem on it. Sydney has @hagsie among others who I’m sure are trying too. Perth organised by a PoC. Melb? Three white male futurists with political ambitions....

Sydney March has booked Renee Cawthorne, which is terrific. Everyone else present as White, cisgender & able bodied. How does this represent diversity of science or the people of NSW? Same issues of equity, accessibility and inclusion raised last yearhttps://othersociologist.com/sociology-of-the-march-for-science/ …

And if you see documented in the link, I specifically provided lots of advice to the Australian marches and engaged heavily with the Sydney organisers. It is inexplicable that the same problems have arisen yet again. Equity & diversity is more than good intentions - it's work

1/Even though last year, we asked for public transparency of organisers- specifically to list E&D plans & committee member bios on the SciMarch website - this has not happened in 2018 Last year, I exposed the Science Party members in Sydney, who handled this badly & were abusive

2/ Fact that no-one is listed for MELB - members nor speakers- speaks to the same shady motives of aspiring politicians, as Mel notes SciMarch made a big deal of being apolitical yet wannabe politicians use the march to put their members in prime decision-making & speaking roles

Just remember @othersociology you see the people who have agreed to speak rather than those we have approached to speak who could not for one reason or another.

Just remember @hagsie the same reasons men give for not having gender balance at events are similar to the reasons people from majority groups give for not having diverse speakers Would you accept "we approached women but they weren't available or couldn't for some reason?"

I did this last year already with representatives from all the Oz marches as well as an extreme number of hours answering questions and providing resources publicly on Twitter. All of that is documented in the link provided. Diversity should never be an afterthought.
