What in that article suggested any kind of discrimination had taken place that had materially affected the author and would indicate a need to fight for equity?

It's probably best to engage as an adult so that you have your faculty of reason to enable you to approach a conversation with some good will and without prejudice. The alternative isn't very rewarding in the long run. I asked a question but I don't see any attempt to answer it
