Absolutely. Let's talk about #Indigenous & other #WOC who are positioned as #StridentWomen! We'll start by drawing on the seminal work of Prof Aileen Moreton-Robinson, who shows how White women academics contributed to this depiction of Aboriginal womenhttps://twitter.com/BrissieMurri/status/977439836142317568 …

Prof Moreton-Robinson's work is important because it shows how, although patriarchy structures all women who go against the status quo as
#StridentWomen, this carries additional weight of racism AND sexism for Aboriginal women. (Plus homophobia/ableism/transphobia for other#WOC)2 replies 4 retweets 16 likesShow this thread -

I
Prof Moreton-Robinson’s book ‘Talkin’ Up to the White Woman’! It’s 1 of the most scholarly works available addressing patriarchy & offers a potent analysis of the issues. As an Indigenous woman, I hold it dear & draw on it for answers, inspiration & comfort. #StridentWomen2 replies 4 retweets 10 likes
I've re-read Prof Moreton-Robinson's book over the years and always draw something new. I now see it not just useful for understanding & challenging mainstream Australian feminism, but better appreciate its global context. #sociology
