1/ Here it is: White men always willing to make excuses for other White men's sexual violence. "Genuinely fallen in love" - Prof Speed frightened Barbara. He professionally sanctioned her. He impacted her mental health & safety. THAT IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT https://twitter.com/lteytelman/status/977071392976879616?s=19 …

2/ "He's no sexual predator like Harvey Weinstein." Sexual predators have existed long before people evoked the name of one celebrity producer- including in science. Weinstein is NOT the yardstick that men are measured as to how "bad" harassment is. This is rape culture apologism

3/ Anyone who wants to argue Prof Speed "only" sexually harassed 1 woman & downplay this - you are contributing to sexual harassment. You are the reason why survivors don't come forward. Barbara lost her will to study & lived in fear for years. One life is NOT insignificant.

4/ Finally so-called male "allies" - truth really comes out when your solidarity is tested. When it means condemning a friend or colleague or someone you look up to. When it means reconsidering shortcomings. Or putting yourself on the line to stand beside us. DO BETTER.
