3/ Anyone who wants to argue Prof Speed "only" sexually harassed 1 woman & downplay this - you are contributing to sexual harassment. You are the reason why survivors don't come forward. Barbara lost her will to study & lived in fear for years. One life is NOT insignificant.

4/ Finally so-called male "allies" - truth really comes out when your solidarity is tested. When it means condemning a friend or colleague or someone you look up to. When it means reconsidering shortcomings. Or putting yourself on the line to stand beside us. DO BETTER.

Thanks for recognising, Lenny. I hope you reflect deeply on this. Because if your reaction is to read that article and think Terry was "deeply in love" & defend this - you need to grapple with the insight that is the same logic Terry used to justify harassing & punishing Barbara.

Gender violence - whether it be sexual harassment at work, or intimate partner violence, or assault or rape - are all connected to gender inequality & attitudes about gender. Specifically, men feel entitled to women's attention & availability, irrespective of the impact on women.
