I think most of the disagreement here is based on people operating with different definitions of exploitation. For many, I think exploitation requires an entity of some sort to be exploited.
Colonialism requires exploitaiton of labour. That's what's always happened over time and across empires. And this continues to this very day. As far as "for many" - this phrase only makes sense if you think White people are the default of humanity, which is incorrect.
