If you're going to teach with memes - that's great - but give students students critical thinking tools to better understand the impact of images, especially on hierarchies of otherness and race.

Memes often use Black people in ways that reinforce racist caricatures. Here a student uses a Black woman who came from an impoverished background and has spoken often about the impact of slavery & racism - to joke about assimilation.
