I’m super excited about this

So great to have Black excellence recognised. And also thrilled that a horror is recognised for its amazing script!

The writing was just so good. This was a tough category this year and I’m so glad Get Out won. And yes — not sure if there’s been another horror screenplay winner since Silence of the Lambs 20+ years ago

Yes! Just looked this up and I think you're right. Other horror winners are Rosemary's Baby, and The Exorcist (both screenplay); Silence for Best Film. Others for sound/visual awards. I'm not paying most of the movies on this list as horrors.

Also i believe the other three named ones were book adaptations, so Get Out might be the first original writing one...?

Yes, it seems you're right. And he's the first Black writer to win in that category. Ever.

Groundbreaking on several levels — already very much looking forward to his next project
