So am I, I don't think we have a disagreement here? I tweet about your show because I enjoy the content and guests. And because it's great to have some airtime for these discussions. More please.

Discussions with a diverse representation of
#womeninSTEMM would be great - issues do not affect all women equally, and the Aus science community would benefit from hearing from a range of voices on this issue#intersectionality2 replies 0 retweets 12 likes -

This would also help them raise their profiles, and perhaps give them a step up to other media opportunities e.g. on TV. I've been told it's hard to find diverse women with media training, and that's why we don't see them represented in MSM. This would seem to be a win-win

This was something
@ScienceAU#SuperstarsofSTEM program took into consideration during assessment of applications. We served on selection panel. Some wonderfully diverse media-savvy#womeninSTEMM coming through!

You're not being honest here. I think the
#superstarsofSTEM program is doing great things for the participants, but when I look at the photos I see 27/30 white women. 10% is not diverse, nor does it support access to opportunities for women of colour4 replies 2 retweets 13 likes -

We deliberately incorporated the following diversity into
#superstarsofstem: ethnic, religious, LGBTIQ+, private vs public employment, family type, geographic, urban/regional, discipline, age, career stage. Much thought given to the final balance.1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

Whiteness is NOT diversity. This is the second year in a row when the overwhelming majority of women are White. The term diversity has a scientific meaning - equity, access & inclusion. It is term developed by women of colour to redress our systematic exclusion, incl by WW.pic.twitter.com/ymSmTwkU5t

The program has only been running for one year.

Okay. Given Superstars of STEM was announced in Dec 2016 & all the press since has featured White women, that's my mistake about dates. If this is the org response to a serious issue - a technicality about timing - lack of commitment to racial equity & diversity is much deeper.

White women were outraged when Academy of Science did not induct any women Fellows. Excuse given was that judging panels acted independently & gender was an oversight.
Troubling that the same logic leads to White-women run programs that don't notice that #WOC are underepresented
