Problem: lack of trust despite good intentions. What is going to be different, make meaningful change? Many schools have had bad experiences with "do gooders... eho swan in" and don't make positive change. Make tech learning & skills more relevant. - Hope Perkins

Drone technology was useful for getting Aboriginal girls interested in tech. Drone tech allowed them to explore koalas and other animals and Country. They learned maths and other engineering skills in a way that resonated with their interests. - Hope Perkins.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in remote areas or in disadvantaged areas, getting to school is a challenge. Need to get more creative; go into communities and make tech more relevant to young people & their communities.

Dr Zuleyka Zevallos @OtherSociologyHow can we create a feedback loop to hear young people's concerns, such as on environmental degradation? A: Go to young people instead of expecting them to go to you (e.g. industry go to unis) & show value youth opinions. Very important question from the floor about the fact that transgender people have high competition of tech degrees but they experience high rates of unemployment. How to make tech recognise these skills? This conversation deserves urgent attention.

Lessons & actions from the day
@techinclusionco: Whatever you think you know about inclusion, there's always more to learn. Want to partner with Indigenous people. Going back to work to start disruptive conversations. Diversity is more than gender issues.#TechInclusion2 replies 2 retweets 6 likesShow this thread -
Lessons from
@techinclusionco from floor: Previously hesitated calling out people at work because don't want to be the person always going on about inclusion - after today, going to do this more! Org has gender & sexual diversity but not ethnic diversity.#TechInclusion1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread
An excellent conference, @techinclusionco! Thanks to @coryannj for inviting us and organising a courageous panel on #intersectionality, and to @dlazzopardi for her insights. A big take away was to reflect on discomfort from today & take concrete action. #Techinclusionpic.twitter.com/Yzq8djSDfk
