It's coming up to the one year anniversary of the March for Science. 1/ A painful reminder to #POC scientists that White scientists & "science enthusiasts" flooded us with racist exclusion, silencing us for "the greater good" & threatened us with violence. Few White people helped

/ A few key Black women from within the Science March led the hard work on steering change. They suffered but persevered. But White women took credit & used #WOC as shields for their inaction. It is those Black women who deserve due support & acclaim. No one else. #marginsci

/ #POC were sanctioned for the work we did to challenge diversity of SciMarch. Some of us could wear the controversy, but many others are students, postdocs & community organisers who risked a lot by organising counter marches & protesting publicly against SciMarch. #marginsci

/ SciMarch organisers appropriated donations to the march, including to pay the unqualified White woman co-founder an executive salary. Very few amongst the White masses that told #POC to stop "politicising" science raised a peep in response. But you were vocal in your racism.

/ So in remembering SciMarch, uplift the voices of Black women and other #POC. Stop replicating the same issues in discussions & activities. Critical thinking is the cornerstone of science. Reflect critically on your actions & inaction that contributes to exclusion then & now.
