“We believe that it is premature to claim that sexual harassment has caused the uneven gender ratio in STEM.” There are several backwards and bizarre points made in this piece but I think this might top it https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/voices/a-different-take-on-sexism-in-science/?utm_content=buffer8a1db&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer …

Just be a little careful please - URMs aren't a tack on - see my comments below. Cisgender women may perceive SH & gender inequity as primary hurdles to science careers, but
#POC & other minorities (esp multiple marginalised) exp racism, ableism, homophobia & more as well as SH1 reply 2 retweets 3 likes -

Thank you for calling that out. In my head I was broadening to harassment of all types, not just sexual, but I see how that came out very wrong.

Your thread is about sexual harassment exclusively. You preface this by linking to MeToo. There's a reason why I and other WOC haven't joined in those conversations - and that's because of the erasure of WOC by White women. Conflating SH with "other harassment" is an illustration

Please rethink this exchange. I know you mean well, but intent has no bearing on impact. White women always add WOC as an afterthought & don't do enough to notice our reality. One way is eclipsing racism with sexual & gender harassment. Concurring issues for WOC.
