I've read the SciAm piece - by authors who actively support Damore & align with racist, sexist White men of the atheist movement. Sexual harassment isn't the only reason ciswomen & gender minorities leave science, but it is one amongst many that make science careers difficult

They try to make an argument about cause and effect of why women leave. Simplistic & misguided way to establish their case. Research shows various cultural problems contribute, from homophobia to ableism to bullying to lack of support for carers to poor work/life balance & so on.

Sexual harassment contributes to hostility for ciswomen & gender minorities, compounded with other norms & biases that support the careers of cisgender White men over Others. Bear in mind that #WOC and gender minorities of various backgrounds exp SH alongside other disadvantages
