Yea. I left out that I was a mentor RA position (kinda like a supervisor) even though it was a lot of work that effected my grades. Its whY i wrote about in essays because my grades sky rocketed when I quit.
I'm reading "RA" as research assistant - because that's what this means in Australia. If so, I'm confused as to why you're told to leave out a research role from your CV? I'm sorry this role was so demanding and affected your grades!

Okay good to know. But now that I know - WHAT THE HECK- this is a GREAT role that would help in a science career. Need I mention all the problems we have in academia with bad supervisors? Having leadership in other contexts provides broader base skills for managing in academia

Yea being an RA and a Mentor RA really helped strengthen my leadership and communication/people skills for sure. That and being a campus tour leader. That helped public speaking tremendously. I was peer mediation in middle and highschool. Those have all helped big time.

I’m pretty sure most residence life staff take a hit in their grades at some point. It’s a lot of work but you get free room and board and a stipend.
