Some profs really do look down their noses at it - wrong and completely discriminatory as it is. And I agree - those skills are so important! As faculty I am more customer service than science skills some days!
I definitely wouldn't advise people to put it on their CV but maybe work it into a sentence in the essay in regards to work ethic and experience.
Exactly. And those retail/service jobs include project management skills, budgeting, working in a team - all part of academic work. There's poor career guidance in general. Students are not shown how to "translate" these skills into CVs and job applications.

That’s true. And that I think is an “easy”’way we can help them. Easy in quotes - but it’s doable and impactful and worth it.

We saw it from the origin of this thread, right? Some advisors seek out students with people skills. Those can be brought out in statements as positives for sure.
