What do you find disturbing about this critique? David is correctly arguing that White people don't get to define anti-racisn responses in ways that entrench their comfort & power. Get Up could have used their platform to elevate voices of
#POC but instead chose empty gesture1 reply 1 retweet 9 likes -

White supremacy thrives when White people get to go about their business as usual - consuming elements of Other cultures (eg. food) - but without meaningfully challenging their own privilege. That includes making sacrifices Hence performative allyship. It's conditional & hollow.

Telling WHITE PEOPLE - and to be clear, Get Up is an org run by White for White people - to take a pic of dinner to show Dutton "we're not affected" is laziest misdirection of White privilege. White people are not affected by racism. Get Up makes no effort to centre

Moreover, White people's consumption of
#POC food is emblematic of White supremacy. Broad scholarship on this issue - eating the Other - appropriating certain aspects of culture while sustaining racism. Enjoying POC food does nothing to racism. WP sacrifice nothing for change.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

You wanted performative allyship to be explained to you & it was. You needed to know why Whiteness should never be elevated as leadership for anti-racism. I've done that. Activism & arguments that support Whiteness are the opposite of centering POC, including Black voices.

Critical race studies has a plethora of resources that you might refer to, starting with Talkin' Up to the White Woman which exactly deals with these themes. To summarise for final time, White people have social power. Anything that focuses on their comfort perpetuates racism.
