I can understand it can be difficult to work these things out! But it's the same as offline; different cultures have different norms...

When you encounter someone reacting in away you find negative, consider from their shoes -
Absolutely. I guess I feel that an online "public" space eg Twitter has are fewer cues signalling when one has moved to a new set of norms.
