Double bonus points. Yesterday I wrote about racism and White people mispelling and mispronouncing my name.

names are so important, & getting them right seems such common courtesy xx
-
Yes! And it's a simple recognition of the most basic level of respect every person deserves.

-
Urgh don't get me started on the white ppl here who insist their Asian students change their names to be 'easier to pronounce'
-
People in extended family harassed by primary school teacher to change name to "make it easier." Refused. Kids forced to stand up to adults
-
sigh... the kicker is, Cian/Siobhan etc would refuse to change their name if they lived in China/India etc
-
Exactly. There's no justification for expecting people to change their names, regardless of where they live or their culture.

My name isn't hard to spell, but ppl keep trying to "europeanise" it more by adding "LL". Even after email exchanges where I spell it right
-
The worst part is that at the beginning I thought I was being oversensitive. But I wasn't. I mean, how hard is to check, or just copy&paste?
-
Not overly sensetive at all! Names define individuality or family & culture. They expect their names to be spelled correctly, so should you.

First, I am sorry this happens. Second, if I have added to any of this stress by asking to collaborate. I am sorry, and we can set it aside.
