That's problem & power of Whiteness though. There *is* a heritage aspect (socially constructed) that is inescapable. Outcome of colonialism
1/ Aspects of this White history may not resonate with you personally, & even feel alien/abhorrent, but you have benefited regardless.

Like the shared history of white people, to me, is colonising and murder and racism. And none of that is glorious.

But that's not a history I shy away from. It's just that's not what they're talking about completely. And certainly not in those terms.
