Here in this country my family's history is very short, going back to the 1910s (Italians) and 1950s (Ukrainians)

4/ Second, ethnicity - that's about culture. Also socially defined, but it's about what we do that gives our identity meaning (language etc)
5/ What does it mean to *feel* Italian/Ukrainian/etc? Cultural experiences differ for different racial groups. E.g. Who is "us" & "them"?

6/ Third, nationality. Legal entity but contested. As you note, Ukrainians didn't have a country until 1991 referendum on independence.

7/ The issue here is to remain aware about what race & Whiteness is: it doesn't mean ethnic & nationality diffs/ inequalities don't exist...

8/ It means that you don't stop being White (a race) because of ethnic & nationality disputes/historic divides between & within White groups

I'll be honest and say that rant obviously wasnt super well thought out but I get really frustrated at white supremacists...

White is a race. And I am in no way separate from whiteness. But it's the heritage part that burns me up really.
