Even in Australian social sciences, since early 1980s, "race" is used less frequently than "ethnicity." But there's lots on "racism."

Everyday racism is connection btw individual & structural racism. It's how routine patterns (e.g. speech, behaviour) reflect systemic racism
-
Learn about the differences of other local & national contexts when it comes to individual/structural/everyday racism.
-
Remember what you take for granted as normal about race is very different for other groups depending on place & their social position.
-
Agree! Main reason why I looked at racism and race in UK for dissertation was to get outside UScentric analysis of race and nation.
-
Ah, how interesting! UK very different race and racism patterns again. There's no comparable category in AUS to BME, for example.
-
AUS does use "NESB"/non English speaking background and "CALD"/culturally and linguistically diverse, but mostly these are policy terms.
-
And of course these are ethnicity-based not race-based.
-
Right. Yea in UK was told by some academics they don't have a race problem like US either and that proved untrue real quick
