I've just reviewed a survey sent by a researcher who wants more women in their study. It is poorly designed & problematic on several fronts.

First, the survey has no clearly communicated aims. There's no statement of ethics. Already you have a problem: no informed consent.

Second, there are too many questions, the likert scales are all over the place and the questions are leading and poorly phrased.

Qualitative research requires years of training, which includes an understanding of how methods impact participants.

It's amazing that other fields think they can dabble in social science. At best, end up with nonsense data; at worst the study will do harm.

Need social science? Collaborate with or hire a social scientist. Research dealing with human participants is not play; it's tough work.
